Celebrating Women's History Month

600x450

As we embark on Women's History Month, it is crucial to shine a spotlight on individuals and organizations that champion the values of equity, diversity and inclusion. This year's theme, "Women Who Advocate for Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion," provides an opportunity to explore how companies like Ambry Genetics are paving the way for inclusivity.

Ambry Genetics has long been recognized for its innovative approaches to genetic testing and personalized medicine. In 2010, we were the first to commercially launch a next-generation sequencing assay, which led to a paradigm shift in the whole industry from low- to high-throughput technology. Ambry led the launch of a hereditary cancer panel that included genes besides BRCA1 and 2. The following year, we launched clinical exome sequencing, which is a test targeted for patients with conditions that are difficult to diagnose. Our comprehensive assay can diagnose these patients more than 40% of the time, which is the highest in the industry.

In 2023, we celebrated the 10-year anniversary of the landmark SCOTUS ruling that forever changed the field of genetic testing. Read how Ambry advocated for gene freedom and demanded equitable care for all here and watch Ambry’s legendary roundtable to commemorate and explore the highlights and challenges of this ruling here.

Ambry Genetics drives innovation in diagnostics by launching cutting-edge genetic tests and technologies. Its broad collaborations, novel research projects, and networks for data sharing continually push the industry forward. Ambry’s research in publications, such as npj Genomic Medicine and more recently JAMA Oncology, showcase our continuous stride towards inclusivity and equity to improve healthcare for all.

Beyond its scientific achievements, Ambry is also making significant strides in creating an inclusive workplace that celebrates diversity and promotes equity. Our initiative with the “Women in Leadership” program is an example of how we support breaking gender stereotypes and sets a powerful example for other organizations aiming to bridge gender gaps in leadership.

True to its commitment to diversity, Ambry Genetics embraces employees from various backgrounds, cultures, and experiences. The company actively seeks to create a workforce that reflects the rich tapestry of society. Ambry understands that diversity fosters innovation and creativity, and it actively promotes an environment where every voice is valued and heard.

When asked if a specific female leader or leaders have inspired me in my career, I don't have to look too far. I'm honored and privileged to be working alongside some talented individuals.

When asked if a specific female leader and or leaders have inspired me in my career, I don’t have to look too far. I’m very fortunate that over 65% of my Ambry’s Executive Team colleagues are strong women leaders. These women on the AET have different strengths, backgrounds, and areas of expertise but one thing in common is the value that they bring to our great company. I’m honored and privileged to be working alongside such talented individuals.

As we celebrate Women's History Month, Ambry Genetics stands out as a shining example of a company that embodies the theme of "Women Who Advocate for Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion." Ambry sets the standard for creating an inclusive workplace where everyone, regardless of gender or background, can thrive. The company's dedication to these principles not only fosters a positive work environment but also contributes to the broader movement towards a more equitable and diverse world.
