Ambry to Feature Impactful Updates at this year’s NSGC

Seattle Skyline

An integral part of the genetic testing process is the work of genetic counselors, who are the key connection between patients, doctors, testing labs and support services. All this week, the nation’s top minds in genetics and genetic counseling will convene in Seattle, WA for the National Society of Genetic Counselors (NSGC) annual meeting.

Ambry will be there making headlines, thanks to our latest test announcements, research publications and a major address from our CEO - Aaron Elliott, PhD. The test announcements are the new additions to our line of custom test panels, and include options across our Cancer, Cardio, Epilepsy and Exome product lines. These CustomNext panels offer genetic counselors the ability to order tests that there specific to each patient, helping pinpoint diagnoses and create custom treatment plans.

For his Sponsored Evening Session talk, Dr. Elliott will be joined on staged by Laura Panos-Smith, MS, CGC, where both will discuss the truth behind Next-generation sequencing (NGS).  They will present research that debunks the industry’s sole reliance on NGS for accurate results and why Sanger confirmation is required for a more accurate diagnosis. We hope the evidence presented will help implement change in the industry, towards more thorough testing, so patients are always receiving the most accurate diagnosis.

All of our test releases and research studies are aimed at improving the life of genetic counselors, who want to help patients develop individualized treatment plans. In honor of their hard work, Ambry is putting on their annual genetic counselors appreciation night, otherwise known this year as “Ambry’s Super LAByrinth: Where Science and Art Come Together.” This party is not to be missed: it starts as guests visit the observation deck of Seattle’s Space Needle and continue into the evening where the party will be decorated with colorful glass artwork, designer cocktails and whimsical champagne-armed aerialists flying towards flutes across the room.

We are looking forward to meeting with genetic counselors at NSGC to learn more about how we can further their practice as well as carry on Ambry’s tradition of working closely with clinicians in the field. We hope to conduct pivotal collaborations while attending this distinguished meeting, and look forward to the future advances in genetics and patient care that they may bring.
